About Me

Hannah B. Gahimer, J.D., is a Visiting Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She teaches undergraduate and graduate-level courses focused on school law, education policy, and ethics.

Within the University, Professor Gahimer is engaged in various service roles. She is the Co-Director of the Martha McCarthy Education Law & Policy Institute, Coordinator for the Education Law Certificate Program, and a member of the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Fellowship Committee. Off campus, Professor Gahimer is a coach for the Indiana Bar Foundation’s We the People program. She also judges the Moot Court Competition at Indiana University McKinney School of Law.

Professor Gahimer’s research interests include student and employee constitutional rights, tort law and school liability for negligence, employment-related civil rights compliance, and the intersection of law and educational equity. She is committed to enhancing legal literacy in educational settings through her publications, presentations at Education Law Association conferences, and work bridging legal practice and educational leadership preparation. 

Prior to joining the Indiana University faculty, Professor Gahimer earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton, summa cum laude, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. She was an Associate Attorney at the law firm of Church Church Hittle + Antrim, a leading education law firm in the state, and represented public school corporations in complex, state and federal litigation matters.
